Chowdhury Akram Hossain received his B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and M.Engg. degree (with the honour of Summa Cum Laude) in Telecommunication from the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), Dhaka, in 2008 and 2010 respectively. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Telemedicine at the Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Malaysia. In 2010, he joined as a Special Assistant under the Office of Student Affairs, and a Senior Lecturer for the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, under the Faculty of Engineering at AIUB, where he is currently serving as an Associate Professor & Head of Computer Engineering Department at AIUB. His research interests are in the field of e-health, power engineering, wireless communication, renewable energy, smart grid, Adhoc Network etc. He is also the Deputy Director of Dr. Anwarul Abedin Institute of Innovations.
Furthermore, he is deeply associated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) on several fronts. As a Senior Member of IEEE. He has served as the Branch Counselor of IEEE AIUB Student Branch from 2011 – 2014, 2018 and as its Mentor from 2014 till March 2016. Owing to his relentless support and guidance, IEEE AIUB Student Branch has flourished; garnering critical acclaim and earning numerous awards. He is also the first and only Bangladeshi to enroll in the prestigious IEEE Volunteer Leadership Training - VOLT Program in 2015, in which he made his mark as one of the top program graduates. As the Program Co-Chair of IEEE Pro Talks, which is a concern of IEEE Bangladesh Section, he has contributed significantly to the Section in 2015. He served as the Student Activity Coordinator of IEEE Bangladesh Section for 2016. In 2017 he served as the Secretary of IEEE Bangladesh Section and as Membership Development Coordinator of IEEE Computer Society-Bangladesh Chapter in 2018. He has also been part of the organizing and technical committee member of many international conferences in Bangladesh and India. Currently he is the vice-chair of IEEE SAC AWARDS Subcommittee and he was a member of IEEE MGA Training committee in 2020. He has served as VOLT mentor in past years. He has been the advisor of TEDx AIUB 2015, Bangladesh Model United Nations Council – BMUNC, AIUB Robotic Crew 2017-22. He has visited more than 9 countries for different academic and professional purposes till date.
