Bio
Chih-Chun Cheng received the B.S. degree from National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, R.O.C., in 1985, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from North Carolina State University (NCSU), Raleigh, in 1990 and 1994, respectively, studying in NCSU's Center for Sound and Vibration.
He first joined General Electric Company, and then Ford Motor Company, working in the areas of vibration and acoustics, after graduation. He has been a member of the faculty in the Mechanical Engineering Department, National Chung Cheng University, Chia-Yi, Taiwan, since 1995, and is currently a Full Professor. His research interests are in the areas of structural vibration, acoustics, structural optimization, fiber-optic sensors, and passive components in telecommunications. He has authored over 40 technical publications and filed several patents.
Dr. Cheng is a Member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE), and the American Standards Association (ASA).
