个人简介
Dr Ceres Barros is a post-doctoral researcher at the University of British Columbia (UBC), where she uses ecological models to investigate questions of ecosystem stability to global change drivers at large geographical scales.
After completing her Terrestrial Biology BSc at the University of Lisbon, Portugal, Ceres obtained an MSc in Ecology and Environmental Sustainability at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, where she became interested in using ecological models to investigate ecosystem resilience and stability dynamics. She then obtained a PhD on Ecology, Biodiversity and Environment at the Grenoble Alpes University, France, during which she continued to develop a passion to study ecosystem dynamics at landscape to regional scales, across different types of ecosystems (forests, grasslands, animal communities) and in complex situations with many drivers (e.g., climate, fire, land-use) and players (e.g., many species of trees, accounting for interactions between species). During her first post-doc at UBC, Ceres expanded LandR, a forest landscape model, to explore mixed-severity fire regimes and fire-vegetation interactions. Presently, she uses LandR to explore forest transitions under climate change effects mediated by permafrost thaw and fire.
