Bio
Cecília de Souza Fernandez works in the Mathematics and Statistics Institute at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 1998, she obtained her Ph.D. degree at Kent State University, Ohio, United States. She is co-author of four books, all of them published by the Brasilian Mathematical Society: "Introduction to Functions of a Complex Variables", "Introduction to Linear Algebra", "Solved Problems in Linear Algebra" and "The history of Hipatia and many other female mathematicians". She currently works with probabilistic models applied to the study of cancer in blood cells. She teaches biostatistics on graduate courses in Marine Biology at UFF.
