个人简介
Cataldo Pignatelli was educated at the University of Salento in Lecce where he obtained his BSc. degree in Biotechnology. Then, he moved to Bologna to accomplish the studies in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Bologna, obtaining his MSc. degree in pharmaceutical micro and nano-systems formulation. Successively, at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia in Genova, his PhD was focused on the development of new systems for skin repair and drug delivery. Particularly, he used electrospinning and electrospray techniques to fabricate natural-based devices. On July 2018, he obtained his PhD degree in Bioengineering and Robotics. On September 2018, he moved to Milan where he got a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Nanomedicine and Tissue Engineering at Niguarda Hospital (associate to Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza Hospital, IRCCS) to fabricate electrospun materials for the regeneration of spinal cord. In June 2019, Cataldo joins Biorganic group as postdoctoral researcher at the University of Milano-Bicocca, where he hasworked on the modification of natural polymers with the aim to use them as starting materials for multi-functionalized nanoparticles formulation and hydrogel or scaffolds preparation. From August 2020, he is moved to the Diabetes Research Institute at the San Raffaele Scientific Institute, where he is a post doctoral researcher in Pancreas Bioengineering unit. He has the purpose to develop and characterize a systems based on decellularized ECM-based scaffold integrated with pancreatic islet cells for improving their transplantation efficiency.
