个人简介
My foundation degrees were in the field of Crop Sciences, however with much bias in Plant breeding. Both, my BSc Hon's and MSc projects where in Quantitative genetics, specifically the use of stability analysis and genetic designs tools in a plant breeding program. I also got to be exposed in practical maize breeding during my internships at Pannar seeds, Agriseeds and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT-Southern African Regional Office in Harare). Throughout the training in these companies, I learnt how to design and to manage maize breeding nurseries and trials, data collection, data handling, data analysis and exploitation. Most importantly, I learnt how to work with people (teamwork). My PhD research aimed to explore how a plant host (i.e., Acacia dealbata) growing in a grassland biome shape its rhizosphere microbial communities and structures and also to detect potential beneficial traits of the key microbial taxa recruited in the rhizosphere soil environment of this invasive tree species. My research interests are in plant-microbe interactions, specifically in understanding how soil microorganisms can promote adaptiveness of agricultural crops in abiotic stressed environments.
