个人简介
Dr. Carina Crucho is presently a Junior Research Fellow at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST). The researcher completed her PhD degree in Chemistry from FCT-UNL in 2015. Her accomplishments lead to her winning the Portuguese Young Chemists Award sponsored by Elsevier, which recognized the work completed during her PhD. From 2015-2018, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Instituto Superior Técnico working on developing mesoporous silica glyconanoparticles for theranostic applications. She has been actively involved in science outreach and public engagement activities and in organising national conferences. She has been interviewed for several newspapers and television channels and has participated in television programs. She was awarded in 2018 with the L'Oréal Award for Women in Science a prize that support and acknowledge outstanding young women at the beginning of their research career, for their accomplishments and development towards independency. Besides her academic activity, Dr. Crucho is a board member of the Young Chemists Group of the Portuguese Chemical Society (SPQ) and is currently Treasurer and Portuguese Delegate at the European Young Chemists Network (EYCN), extensively supporting the networking activities among young chemists. Next to her research, Dr. Crucho has been teaching practical organic chemistry at Lisbon School of Health Technology, integrated in the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon. In October 2019 she has invited to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program “Advancing Women in STEAM Fields”, a program administered by the United States Department of State. For three weeks she explored policies of organizations and educational institutions championing the interest of women in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics (STEAM) and networked with several professional counterparts across the region. She visited five US cities: Washington D.C., Seattle, Akron, Boston and New Orleans. More recently, Dr. Crucho was selected to participate in the CAS Future Leaders Program 2020 and in the 70th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting. In addition, she received a LPCC-NRS/ TERRY FOX grant for funding the project SCOVI. More recently, she was selected for the list of top 2% of scientists that focuses on single-year impact (2019) in Chemistry field according to a study carried out by Stanford University to assess the impact and consolidated influence of a given scientist or institution in the progress of scientific knowledge.
