Quek Camelia Y J

Dr Camelia Quek is a CINSW Research Fellow at Melanoma Institute Australia with a proven track record in translational immunotherapy research that resulted in several key publications, including the landmark immunotherapy study published in Cancer Cell and Clinical Cancer Research. Dr Quek is appointed as an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Sydney. Dr Quek originally did a first degree in Molecular Biology at the University of New South Wales (University Medal) before moving on to do a PhD in Bioinformatics and Medical Science at the University of Melbourne (Sawyer Medal). Dr Quek is gaining recognition as an international and local emerging expert in computational biology research in cancer therapies, receiving several prestigious awards including CINSW Premier’s Awards for Wildfire Highly Cited Publication 2022, Millennium Science Start Single Cell Award 2021 and CINSW Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Translational Research Team 2017. Dr Quek was awarded 3X Best Poster Winner and Best Oral Talk at international and national conferences. Dr Quek’s research program has been able to secure competitive funding and achieve exceptional research outcomes that advance scientific knowledge in biomarker development and drug discovery. The program focuses on further understanding the immunogenic profiles, key proteins and biological mechanisms driving cellular identity and heterogeneity within tumour and immune ecosystem, particularly in the context of response signatures, drug resistance, druggable targets and how tumour heterogeneity shapes disease progression.
