Caleb is a Professor and Consultant Neurophysiotherapy and Mental Health Physiotherapy with expertise in forensic physiotherapy, disability assessment/claim and clinical ethics. He is a bachelor degree holder in Physiotherapy (2001) and Master (2006) and Doctor of Philosophy (2012) degrees holder in Physiotherapy (Neurology and Mental Health) and several post-doctoral research fellows. He is a post-doctoral fellow in neurosciences, psychiatry, mental health and ethics and belonged to the Division of Philosophy of ethics of mental health of the University of Pretoria, South Africa (2013-2016). He is a young Neurologist awardee of the World Stroke Organisation (WSO) with internationalvisiting scholarship at the Catholic University (KU), Leuven, Belgium (2018/2019). He is a Fellow of the WSO (2019) and a pioneer member of the World Stroke Future Leaders Programme of the WSO (2020-2022). This progarmme developed a global cohort of clinical researcher and clinical practitioners for effective global stroke prevention and optimal management. He is a member of the research Committee of the WSO where his has been serving since year 2020.
Caleb has managed and still managing several research grants including the World Stroke Organisation grant of stroke prevention and management in Sub-Sahara Africa from year 2020 to 2022. The research also covered determinants of functional recovery, quality of life and return to productive lifestyle in stroke survivors. He had also been awarded the Vice Chancellor/Principal post-doctoral fellowship in neurosciences and ethics and philosophy of mental health from 2013 to 2016. This research developed model for appropriate management of individuals with mental health condition in Sub-Sahara Africa from hospital admission to community integration and return to work using the goals attainment scaling approach. He is presently a grand holder with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) in Nigeria for an research on community functioning, environmental and social determinants of health among community-dwelling elderly in Nigeria.
Caleb is a Visioner and pioneer of the Stroke and Nervous System Disorders Foundation as well as the Advances in Neurosciences and Neurorehabilitation Concept. Through these two organisations, he has been able to provide model for health seeking pathway and formulated the appropriate model for the health seeking behaviours of individuals with neurological and/or mental health conditions for proper rehabilitation for return to social and productive lifestyle.
Caleb is a member of Board of Directors of the World Stroke Organisation (2022 till date) where policies on global stroke management is being formulated and executed. He has been managing a global neurorehabilitation outfit that is a model for neurorehabilitation research and clinical services since year 2015. He is the Sub-Dean and Director of Academic and Research, School of Postgraduate Studies of the University of Lagos, Nigeria (2021 till date) where he manages all the postgraduate programmes of the university and coordinates all the researches for the award of postgraduate diplomas, masters and PhD in over 780 programmes of the university. He also superintends the curriculum development and curriculum review for all the new and running postgraduate programmes of the university.
Caleb also doubles as the Deputy director of the transitional Doctor of Physiotherapy (tDPT) of the university of Lagos, Nigeria where he develops the curriculum progarmme and see to the it implementation. He had served as the postgraduate coordinator of the university of Lagos postgraduate programmes in physiotherapy. He serves as a facilitator in the Medical Education Unit (MEDU) of the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos, Nigeria (2023 till date) where he trains students in various health professions from Medical and Surgery, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Pharmacology, Radiography including Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry on the contemporary Curriculum-Centred Minimum Academic Standard (CCMAS) in compliance with best global practices as prescribed by the National Universities Commission in Nigeria.
Caleb has served and still serving as a member of Health and Research Committees of several clinical research-based institutions both in Nigeria, South Africa and Ghana and several professional organisations such as the World Stroke Organisation, World Physiotherapy, World Neurosciences, World neurorehabilitation among many others. He is a speaker in many international conference, scientific meets, seminar and workshops. He has more than one hundred publications in peer review journals with focus on health.
Caleb effectively combines knowledge in clinical and health research, administration, curriculum development, and postgraduate education management for the effective and efficient delivery of his mandate to produce the best result.
