Bio
Carlos R. Zamarreño received the MS degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and his PhD in Communications from the Public University of Navarra (UPNA) in 2005 and 2009 respectively. He was working as an associate researcher at the UPNA since 2007 and he became a reader in 2012. He was a visiting scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Boston, MA, USA), Siemens Corporate Technology Research Centre (Munich, Germany) and Universidade Tecnologica Federal do Parana (Curitiba, Brasil) in 2008, 2011 and 2013 respectively. In 2013 received the IEEE Sensors GOLD (Graduate of Last Decade) Award for his contributions to de development of waveguide based sensors based on micro and nanostructured coatings. His main research interests are optical fiber devices for chemo and bio sensing purposes, micro and nanostructure fabrication techniques, thin-film characterization and their engineering applications.
