Bio
My research program investigates how physical and chemical aspects of the environment affect animal function and ecology. The work that my students and I do most frequently addresses human-derived impacts of climate change, pollution, and habitat degradation on wild animals. Our work is rooted in energetics and frequently addresses questions dealing with resource assimilation and allocation. We work exclusively with ectotherms, including vertebrates and invertebrates, and the bulk of the work involves amphibians and reptiles, including the iconic diamondback terrapin.
