Bio
Dr. Chih-Hao Chang is an Associate Professor in the Walker Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on nanomanufacturing and the design and fabrication of 2D/3D multifunctional nanostructures with novel physical properties. His research group have demonstrated engineered nanostructures such as self-cleaning anti-glare glass, light-weight ultra-stiff nanolattice material with near-unity refractive index, stretchable transparent conductors, and responsive materials with dynamic iridescence. Dr. Chang also investigates novel scalable nanomanufacturing techniques based on both “top-down” and “bottom-up” principles. Recent efforts in this area include harnessing the light interactions with colloidal particles, which can generate a wealth of near-field optical intensity distributions for nanolithography. This approach is low-cost and scalable, and can be used for continuous, roll-to-roll printing of 3D nanostructures. Dr. Chang’s research can find applications in more efficient photonic/optoelectronic devices, integrated solar concentrators, and multifunctional smart windows.
