Bio
Dr. GAO is an Assoc. Professor of Department of Mechanical Engineering at Zhejiang University. He received his Ph.D. in 2001 in Solid Mechanics at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. After doctoral graduation, he did research as a postdoctoral fellow at Ecole des Mines in France supported by the grant from French government. He joined the faculty of Zhejiang University in 2003 and now a member of the group of large aircraft. During the working period, he ever visited the University of Sydney, the University of New South Wales respectively in 2006 and in 2011 supported by the Endeavor scholarship of Australian government. The cooperative tutor is Professor L.C. Zhang, fellow of Engineering Academy of Australia and a worldwide famous specialist in the research fields of Multi-Scale Material Machining and Plasticity Application. He also has a cooperative research with Prof X.C. Li at UCLA by visiting his laboratory in 2018 in the aspect of Super-Metals based on nano-manufacturing technology.
His current research interests mainly include Multi-Scale Material Mechanics of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Composites and Light-Weight-High-Strength Nano-Metals, High-Speed Machining Modeling, Dynamic Finite Element Simulation by ABAQUS, etc. In recent years, he has been supported by various research projects including National Natural Science Foundation of China and Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars, and has published more than 30 academic papers including TOP-SCI journal papers. He is the member of International Association of Computational Mechanics (IACM). He is serving as the reviewer for the International Journal of Plasticity, the International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Science China-Technological Science, Acta Aeronautica et Astronautica Sinica, etc.
