个人简介
I am a clinical neuroscientist with expertise in cognitive neurology and dementias. In 2001, I graduated as a medical doctor at The University of Santiago of Chile, and I completed my training as a neurologist in September 2005. Between 2004 and 2008, I developed a vast clinical and teaching experience by working as a neurologist Consultant, lecturing and tutoring medical students, and supporting clinical and research activities at the Centre for the study of Movement Disorders (CETRAM, USACH).
In 2009 I moved to Australia, and in 2013 I was awarded my PhD on progressive aphasias at the clinical school of The University of New South Wales. I was awarded DVC Research Postdoctoral Fellowship, a highly competitive scheme funded by The University of Sydney. In 2015, I was awarded a Dementia Research Development Fellowship, a scheme funded by Medical Research Council and Australia Research Council. Between 2017-2019 I conducted my postdoctoral training at the Department of Neurology of the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA.
My research focuses on progressive language disturbances caused by neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease. My methodology integrates clinical and neuropsychological assessments, neuroimaging techniques, biomarkers, and pathological information. My integrative approach seeks to associate progressive linguistic deficits, with selective damage to large-scale brain networks caused by molecular neuropathologies.
