Chin-Chun Wu received the Ph. D. degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering from the University of Alabama, Huntsville, in 1993.
She worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Space Science Institute, Chung-Li, Taiwan, R.O.C., from 1993 to 1997. While there, she conducted original field research on solar interplanetary shocks. She performed and analyzed numerical simulations using a magnetohydrodynamic model initialized with solar imagery and plasma magnetic fields to predict interplanetary magnetic fields near Earth. She wrote proposals and scientific papers for publication in major peer-reviewed scientific journals. During five months working as a Research Associate at National Cheng-Kung University, Taiwan, she performed data analysis of the total electron content (TEC) observed by the dual-frequency global position system (GPS) in the equatorial anomaly region. She investigated the phenomena of TEC variations during geomagnetic storms. During 1998 and 1999, she continued her research at Bartol Research Institute, University of Delaware. She developed a simulation code to follow the evolution in space, time, and momentum of an energetic particle spectrum accelerated by a propagating shock in the inner heliosphere. She has worked as a Resident Research Associate at GSFC/NASA from 2000 to 2002. She extensively performs data analysis on the relationship between magnetic clouds and geomagnetic storms and the identification of substorms within storms. She joined CSPAR/University of Alabama as a Research Scientist in October 2002. She is the author or coauthor of more than 42 published scientific papers.
