C. A. Ekdahl

Carl Ekdahl (Life Fellow, IEEE) received the B.A. degree in physics from San Diego State College, San Diego, CA, USA, in 1964, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in physics from the University of California at San Diego, La Jolla, CA, USA, in 1966 and 1971, respectively. He has practiced experimental and theoretical physics with Smyth Research Associates and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, San Diego; with Mission Research Corporation and Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, NM, USA; and with Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM, USA. He is currently the Chief Scientist for the new Scorpius multipulse linear induction accelerator. He is also heavily involved in the modernization of the long-pulse linear induction accelerator at the Dual-Axis Radiography for Hydrodynamic Testing (DARHT) Facility, Los Alamos National Laboratory. His research interests have included accelerators and intense relativistic electron beams, pulsed-power, high-power microwaves, high-energy density plasmas and hydrodynamics, warm dense matter, and atmospheric CO2. Dr. Ekdahl is a Life Member of the American Physical Society. He serves on the International Advisory Committee for the High Power Particle Beam Conferences. He has also served on various IEEE award and conference organizing committees. He is the Senior Editor of IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science for Charged Particle Beams and Sources.
