个人简介
Bruno Melgar obtained his bachelor's in Food Engineering in 2010 at the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana in Mexico City, Mexico, and his Master’s degree in Food Quality and Safety in 2013 at the Universitat de València, in Valencia, Spain. Afterward, he won an International grant from CONACyT in Mexico for coursing his International Ph.D. in Food Science, Technology, and Management which was completed in 2018 at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, in Valencia, Spain, winning the Cum Laude award for his research thesis.
During his Ph.D. he worked in food science and chemistry of natural products, exploring new natural colorants and using plant extracts as natural ingredients and preservatives, having performed his research stays abroad at the Mountain Research Centre (CIMO) of IPB, in Bragança, Portugal.
In 2019 he was offered a position to work as a Post-Doctoral fellow within the Project Valor Natural (Norte-01-0247-FEDER-024479), to carry out research at CIMO-IPB based on data analysis and optimization statistics, and 5-month later he was appointed for the position of Chief Technology Officer for a Spin-off created between the Instituto Politécnico de Bragança and the Venture Capital BeAble based Madrid, Spain, that focuses on the development of a food coating solution, awarded as “2019 European Social Innovation” technology. In this position, he worked for 6 months between Portugal and Spain, until the final dissolution of the company due to managerial issues.
Since April 2020 he has been working in a Jr researcher position at CIMO-IPB based on data processing, statistical optimization processes, and modification and adaptation of natural polymeric solution and natural antioxidant complex arrays. He has worked within governmental analysis labs and international companies such Maseca-Gruma and Grupo Modelo. and has been working for 3 different scientific groups in Spain and Portugal (IATA, IIAD, and CIMO).
Published different scientific items such as Research articles, 1 book chapter, posters, and oral communications, and collaborate in the organization of international meetings.
Currently, he has 1 international Master's student under supervision, while collaborating on several different transversal projects related to database and managerial software development, data mining, treatment and visualization, and other bioinformatic fields as well as working as a peer-reviewer of several Q1 scientific journals and as an editor of the special issue “Computer Science Disruption in the Biotechnology Processes” for the journal Applied science.
