Research Interests
The capacity of the human brain to learn and remember is enormous and has intrigued scientists,clinicians and philosophers for centuries. Today, a greater understanding has been achieved of the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the processes of learning and memory, and how these processes may become disordered in disease states such as Alzheimer's Disease or after conditions such as Stroke.
Our laboratory is interested in several aspects of the brain: its ability to learn and remember, its vulnerability to stroke, epilepsy and injury and the role that the purines ATP and adenosine, play in these processes.
