Brendan F. Kennedy received the Ph.D. degree from Dublin City University, Dublin, Ireland, in 2006. He is currently the Laboratory Head of BRITElab, Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, QEII Medical Centre, Nedlands, and The Centre for Medical Research, The University of Western Australia (UWA), Perth, WA, Australia. He is a Professor with the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering, UWA. Before joining UWA, he was a Teaching and Research Academic with the University of Santiago, Chile, Santiago, Chile, during 2006–2007. He is also a Co-founder of OncoRes Medical, Nedlands, WA, Australia: a UWA Start-up company developing novel surgical imaging tools. From 2017 to 2021, he was the Chief Scientific Officer. His research interests include the development of wearable biomedical optics devices, intraoperative surgical techniques, optical elastography, and the measurement of tissue and cell mechanics. He was the recipient of Western Australia 40 under 40 Award in 2019 and Western Australia Research Excellence Award in 2022.
