个人简介
Professor, Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. An internationally recognized expert in bone biology, osteoporosis, and metabolic bone disease, Dr. Boyce is also a diagnostic surgical pathologist with a sub-specialty interest in bone and soft tissue pathology. He served as Director of Surgical Pathology from 1999-2007, Director of Anatomic Pathology from 2007-13 and Vice Chair for Anatomic Pathology 2013-2016. His research laboratory studies regulatory mechanisms controlling osteoblast and osteoclast formation and function, in particular where there is the potential for development of new therapeutics for preventing or treating osteoporosis. He was the first to report osteoclast apoptosis in 1996, and has been funded continuously since then by the NIH to study the mechanisms that regulate the formation and activation of osteoclasts, which are essential for bone modeling and remodeling and mediate bone loss in common bone diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis and postmenopausal and age-related osteoporosis.
