Bio
Primarily focused on analysing and developing methods in single cell and spatial genomics; an extremely fast-moving area that generates extremely rich datasets of gene activity across thousands of cells. I've designed and implemented analysis pipelines on complex datasets to help inform research decisions and wetlab experiments. These range across many biological systems including melanoma (population, single cell, spatial), breast cancer (spatial), brain cancer (spatial), and brain development (single cell).
I'm also actively developing new methods of analysis to enable identification of granular cell subtypes & detecting where & how cells talk to each other in tissue cross-sections. The former is extremely important in the context of brain developmental single cell data where biologically important differences between neurons are difficult to detect. The latter is an extremely important phenomenon to understand why some patients respond to drugs that interact with the immune system and others do not.
Overall, I'd describe myself as motivated, interested in people, keen to learn what you have to teach me, & excited about finding new ideas and ways of doing things that can improve life for as many people as possible. To me, I think the best way I can achieve this is through the intelligent use of data to find optimal solutions to difficult problems.
