Bobak Nazer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Boston University. His broad research interests include information theory, communications, signal processing, and neuroscience.
Prof. Nazer completed his graduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley where he received the M.S. degree in 2005 and the Ph.D degree in 2009, both in electrical engineering. Prior to this, he was an undergraduate at Rice University where he received the B.S. degree in electrical and computer engineering in 2003. From 2009 to 2010, he was a postdoctoral associate at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
Prof. Nazer received the BU ECE Outstanding Faculty Teaching Award in 2018, the BU ECE Faculty Service Award in 2017, the Dean's Catalyst Award from the BU College of Engineering in 2017 and 2011, IEEE Communications Society and Information Theory Society Joint Paper Award in 2013, the NSF CAREER Award in 2013, and the Eli Jury Award from the UC Berkeley EECS Department in 2009. He was the General Chair for the IEEE 2019 North American School of Information Theory and was one of the co-organizers for the Spring 2016 Thematic Program at the Institut Henri Poincaré on the Nexus of Information and Computation Theories.
