个人简介
Blanca Figuerola is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Marine Sciences of Barcelona (ICM-CSIC). She received her PhD in Biodiversity from the University of Barcelona. Her research sits between the established disciplines of taxonomy, biodiversity, ecology and conservation paleobiology. Her current work aims to: 1) assess the effects of global environmental changes on benthic marine calcifiers in order to identify taxa that may be particularly vulnerable to near-future changes and 2) use their fossil record to reconstruct natural and human-driven changes in coastal ecosystems and be able to make better predictions. During her postdoctoral research career, she has been awarded competitive grants such as SENACYT- STRI (2017), Juan de la Cierva Incorporación (2018) and Beatriu de Pinós-Marie Curie-COFUND program (2021-24) to work at several international research institutions (e.g. Australian Antarctic Division (Australia), Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (Panama) and ICM-CSIC). There, she has participated in several multidisciplinary projects involving fieldwork in Antarctic, temperate and tropical regions.
