Integrity and life assessment of industrial components under various loading and environmental conditions using computational and experimental methods is the major interest of Hosseini-Toudeshky. His activities in this area was initially started with creep life assessments of two dimensional, axisymmetric, and three dimensional industrial components at elevated temperatures by his own developed finite element method software and development of a new engineering simple method (UNSW-LIFE2) during his PhD theses in the university of New South Wales. But to respond other requirements of integrity and life assessment and damage analyses he extend his research and engineering fields to fatigue, fracture and damage of metallic and composite materials. In his recent works, he looked at metals similar to composites, as he believes that the strength and integrity assessment of such components is not quite successful without consideration of material behavior at small scale and use of multiscale modeling approaches.

Today, integrity and life assessment of industrial components without looking at the microstructural behavior of material, consideration of material degradation, and progressive damage analyses may lead to very conservative and non-economic results. Therefore, one who is going to lead a task in this area have to be familiar with a wide range of analyses tools such as experimental methods, FEM, XFEM, Mesh free, Multiscale Modelling, and new methods such as Molecular Dynamics and Peridynamics. Then he can properly select one or more of these methods to overcome a difficulty and giving a solution with minimum cost, time and more accuracy. He believes that by employing peridynamics and multiscale modeling in progressive damage analyses, damage and deformation patterns of new metal alloys can be predictable with lower costs and more accurate with respect to traditional techniques such as classical FEM, XFEM and Mesh free methods. These issues could help advanced industries in developing new material, commercialization, performance and estimation of durability and safety of components.
He also believes that a successful mechanical engineer always has to look at the research and technology front and updating his/her research area and research techniques with more industrial and society impacts. Therefore, Hosseini-Toudeshky always looking at the new and future trends and mega trends in the word and do his best to tailor his activities aliens with the word trends direction. Energy, smart cities and digitization are very dependent area in the future trends and therefore engineering projects related to the energy and especially power plants have not to be financed without the knowledge about the progress in other two future mega trends.
In the meanwhile, new techniques such as fast prototyping and additive manufacturing and the use of them for developing of new alloys and related topics to the integrity and life assessments of various applications are very important in the R&D of energy and other industries.
Management Experiences;
He acted as the manager and director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center in Tehran Polytechnic (Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT)) from Jan. 2015 until Nov. 2017. This center established to provide a complete ecosystem for innovation cycle (from idea to product and to the market) and encourage the students, graduates and faculties to commercialize their innovative ideas and research outcomes. In this period apart from incubation center and knowledge based company divisions, two business accelerators established in the center under the sponsoring and cooperation of Samsung Company and an Iranian private bank (Ayandeh Bank). In this center, the number of startups was 15 companies in 2014 and increased to 122 companies and technology teams in 2017 and reaches over 230 now. From Nov. 2017 until now, he also acted as the Vice Chancellor for Research and Technology in Tehran Polytechnic (Amirkabir University of Technology). In this period, he was very involved with the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center as it is one of the divisions under the control of vice chancellor for research and technology.
