个人简介
Bewunetu Zewude received his MA degree in sociology from Addis Ababa University and BA degree in sociology and social anthropology from Wollega University. Currently, he is a PhD candidate in the department of sociology, Addis Ababa University. His PhD work focuses on locating viable strategies for the sustainable reintegration of street children in Addis Ababa. He has over 10 years of experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students of higher education institutions in Ethiopia, including Haramaya University, Wolaita Sodo University, Addis Ababa University, and Paradise Valley College. He has taught major courses in sociology such as development sociology, medical sociology, research methods, criminology and correctional administrations, rural sociology and rural development, urban sociology, sociology of work, industry and organization, social policy and planning, and project planning and management. He has been engaging in advising and examining the research works of both undergraduate and post graduate students of the Universities mentioned above. He is now working as a freelancer Technical Project Proposal Developer & Narrator in a local NGO called Positive Action for Development (PAD).
Besides his role in teaching courses and providing community services, Bewunetu has always been engaging in various multidisciplinary research activities. His areas of research interest include and not limited to vulnerable children and youth, social causes and consequences of disability, gender issues, adolescent health and well-being, and social gerontology. Bewunetu has rich experiences in developing a research proposal, collecting qualitative and quantitative data through FGD, KII, in-depth interview, and survey (questionnaire), data analysis and report writing. He has previous experiences in undertaking researches with children and youth using more participatory data collection techniques such as drawing exercise and role playing games. Bewunetu has published dozens of original research and reviewed articles on reputable international and local journals. In addition to serving as a reviewer of different manuscripts for a local journal, he has participated in baseline surveys, mid-term and end-line assessments of development projects implemented by NGOs.
Bewunetu has served as director of research and community service activities in a privately owned higher education institution called Paradise Valley College. He has also worked as head of the department of sociology and social anthropology in the same college. He has been participating and playing roles in various committees such as curriculum revision and scholarship affairs committee, research and community service affairs committee, and staff discipline committee, among others. For the papers he presented in different conferences, Bewunetu has been awarded many certificates of appreciation.
