个人简介
Beverley Horn is a senior scientist at the Institute of Environmental Science and Research, where she has been working for the last 12 years. Before this she worked for the UK defence research institutes and also a period of time at Canterbury University working on projects relating to mechanical engineering and public health projects.
She specialises in risk assessment of microbiological and chemical hazards to public health or customer acceptance. With a focus on the development and evaluation of quantitative risk models which may be predictive or descriptive models.
Her work includes providing modelling, mathematics, statistics, trial or sampling designs, user testing and communication of science for both client and research projects at ESR.
Current research activities and interests include:
- Monte Carlo simulation models of microbiological and chemical hazards to public health in the food chain and domestic or recreational activities, including intervention analysis. Work programme has recently focussed on raw milk products, potential harvesting tools for shellfish farmers and QMRA predictive tools for recreational water use and the implementation of models into RShiny dashboards for industry use.
- Examining ways to include meaningful uncertainty estimates in quantitative risk assessments.
- Bayesian networks for predicting public health outcomes
