Bio

Benoit Deffontaines received the M.S. degree in remote sensing and structural geology from the University of Orléans, Orléans, France, in 1985, and the Ph.D. degree in structural geology and remote sensing analyses from UPMC, Paris, France, in 1991. He is currently a Senior Research Scientist with the University Paris-Est Marne-La-Vallée, Champs-sur-Marne, France, where he is with the Laboratory of Research in Geodesy (LAREG/Lastig). During 2008, he was giving the Student Lecture Tour of the AEGS. His research interests include active tectonics, natural hazards, mountain building, oil and gas exploration, and remote-sensing photointerpretation.
