Career Trajectory
Bio
Ben acheived a 1st Class BSc degree in Human Biology from the University of Worcester. He then completed an MSc degree (with Merit) in Molecular Neuroscience at the University of Bristol, completing a research project in the Molecular Neuroendocrinology Group. Following this he continued in the lab to contribute to a paper (Epigenetic control of vasopressin PMID: 26833868). A successful two year stint as a technician in the Diabetes and Metabolism group in Southmead Hospital involved working on detecting antibodies in Type 1 Diabetes, an entirely different research area than the Master's degree. Then Ben returned, as a technician, to the Molecular Endocrinology Research Group to work on desert adaptation of Camelus dromedarius. Particularly focused on changes following dehydration in the kidney at the transcriptomic, proteomic, and phosphoproteomic levels. Currently, Ben is working towards a PhD investigating molecular adaptive mechanisms in Jaculus jaculus as part of the SWBio DTP programme.
