Since August 2015 I’m working as Biologist at the Tuberculosis and Viral Hemorrhagic BSL-3 unit at the University Clinical Research Center (UCRC) of the University of Sciences, Techniques and Technologies of Bamako (USTTB). As part of these protocols, we are performing TB diagnosis and identification using classical and molecular tools (fluorescent and FDA smear microscopy using LED and ordinary microscopy, solid and liquid culture, Capilia TB test, GenProbe Accuprobe, MGIT AST/SIRE drug susceptibility testing to detect early drug resistance, Hain Life Science for DST, Quantiferon and spoligotype analysis to identify the strains genotype). We also are using this platform to screen for new MDR-TB patients, which also are followed for treatment success using new techniques. In addition to that, I am a member of the SARS-CoV-2 diagnosis team at our laboratory, and we have tested more than 80,000 samples and diagnosed more than 9,000 new RT-PCR SARS-CoV-2 positive cases, including the identification of new variants. In 2022, I was selected by the West African Node of Excellence for TB, Malaria and AIDS (WANETAM) as one of the young female scientists to continue my study in microbiology research for a PhD program at the University of Sciences, Techniques and Technologies of Bamako (USTTB).
