Benjamin B. Yang (S’02–M’12) received the B.S. degree in mathematics in 2005 and the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering in 2005 and 2006, respectively, from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT, USA, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, WI, USA, in 2011. In 2002, he was a lab technician with the University of Utahs HEDCO cleanroom facility. From 2003 to 2005, he was an NSF IGERT Fellow at the University of Utah. During his time at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he held various teaching assistant and research assistant positions. He also completed a summer internship at L-3 Communications, Electron Devices in 2006. Since July 2011, he has been with the Validation and Failure Analysis Department at Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque, NM, USA. He has a broad range of past and current research interests including terahertz system engineering, nonlinear optics, photonics, microelectromechanical systems, and failure analysis and reliability techniques for next-generation integrated circuits, photovoltaic, and power electronics technologies. Dr. Yang is a member of ASM International and the Electronic Device Failure Analysis Society. His recognitions include the 2011 IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science best student paper Award, the Gerald Holdridge Teaching Excellence Award from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the Engineering Service Scholar Award from the University of Utah.
