Bio
Bhuvana Srinivasan received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, University of Washington. Her dissertation focused on the development of multifluid plasma models using the discontinuous Galerkin method with applications to innovative fusion configurations.
She was a Post-Doctoral Researcher and a Technical Staff Scientist with the Los Alamos National Laboratory. She is a Faculty Member with the Kevin T. Crofton Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, USA, where she is also the Director of the Plasma Dynamics Computational Laboratory. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in spacecraft propulsion, advanced spacecraft propulsion, computational plasma physics, and hypersonic aerodynamics. The research areas in her group include plasma-material interactions in thrusters and magnetic fusion devices, instabilities in high-energy-density fusion and astrophysical plasmas, ionospheric plasma instabilities, and numerical algorithm development for fluid and kinetic models.
Dr. Srinivasan was a recipient of the NSF CAREER award and her research is also supported by the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense.
