Bio
Björn Johansson, MD PhD, studied medicine at the universities of Uppsala and Linköping, Sweden, completed his residency in ophthalmology 1989 and presently (2020-2021) serves as Associate professor, subject representative in ophthalmology and senior staff member subspecializing in cataract surgery at the Department of Ophthalmology, Linköping University Hospital, Sweden. He defended a PhD thesis on Visual Evoked Potentials and Binocularity in 2006.
Since 1990 he has performed more than 10000 cataract operations, and since more than 10 years he trains and educates new cataract surgeons at Linköping University Hospital. His research is focused on cataract surgery outcomes, with a special interest in Immediate Sequential Bilateral Cataract Surgery, ISBCS. International and national collaborative research projects are among the publications.
Previously secretary of the Swedish Ophthalmological Society he is now in the society’s specialist exam work group and also co-authored the national Swedish curriculum for education of new cataract surgeons.
