Career Trajectory
Bio
Brice Guignard received the M.S. degree in sport science applied to swimming research from the University of Savoie Mont Blanc, Chambéry, France, in 2014, and the Ph.D. degree in motor control and biomechanics from the University of Rouen Normandie, Rouen, France, in 2017.
In the summer of 2018, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher with the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand, and worked with inertial measurement units in an objective of understanding human movement in water, to potentially reduce the risk of drowning. In October 2018, he was an Associate Professor with the University of Rouen Normandie. In 2020, he became a member of a large national program to help swimmers and para swimmers to prepare for the Paris Olympic Games in 2024. His research interests include motor control analyses and biomechanics measurements applied to swimming or to activities performed in complex environments (e.g., trail running and water) but also prediction of behaviors in professional handball from local positioning system data acquisition.
Dr. Guignard was a recipient of the Biomechanics and Medicine in Swimming Archimed Award in 2018 in Tsukuba, Japan, and the Jean Vivès Award in 2021 from the Society of Biomechanics in Paris, France.
