Bio
Prof Balram Chowbay oversees the Khoo Awards internal grants and Research Development Seminars in Centre for Clinician-Scientist Development (CCSD) in Duke-NUS Medical School Singapore, which provide funding and learning opportunities to clinician-researchers to help build their research portfolios and develop grantsmanship skills. Prof Balram is also a Professor of Clinical Pharmacology at the National Cancer Centre Singapore and Consultant to the Clinical Pharmacology Laboratory at SingHealth Clinical Pharmacology. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School and the School of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Nanyang Technological University. His research has largely focused on the applications of pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamic (PD) principles in the design of early phase clinical trials as well as application of pharmacogenetic tools to explain variabilities in the PK/PD of therapeutic agents and optimisation of drug dosages. He holds several nationally funded grants and is actively involved in mentoring of clinician scientists and Duke-NUS medical students.
