I am working in the field of oxidative stress-associated disorders since 2009. My main scientific objective is to elucidate the role of redox-sensitive transcription factors during the development but also the progression of pathological conditions such as dysregulated inflammation, rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer’s disease, Multiple sclerosis, steatohepatitis, and cancer. In this context, my focus especially lies on the nuclear factor erythroid2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), the main regulator of the intracellular antioxidant response machinery, but also the involvement of nuclear factor 'kappa-light-chain-enhancer' of activated B-cells (NF-κB) and Hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha (HIF-1a) are addressed. Experimental setups include cell culture approaches (in vitro), analyses of isolated organs (ex vivo) as well as specific rodent models (in vivo).
