Astrid Bracher is professor at the University Bremen and the group leader of AWI’s PHYTOOPTICS Group which was funded as a Helmholtz-University Young Investigator’s Group in 2007. She has a unique interdisciplinary expertise in ocean colour and atmospheric satellite retrievals, radiative transfer modelling, in-situ data measurements, physics and biology. The main scientific focus of her group is the development of hyperspectral satellite retrievals for water applications and specifically to retrieve phytoplankton diversity from inland over coastal to the global ocean waters.
