个人简介
I investigate changes in global biodiversity through geologic time, including intervals when biodiversity dramatically decreased (mass extinctions) or increased (radiations). I also work on: analyses of shell accumulations on present-day seafloors to help diagnose anthropogenic changes in coastal environments; the numerical modeling of the formation of fossil assemblages; and distributions of ancient communities along environmental gradients. Recently, I have worked with colleagues in Biology on plant diversity and abundance along a present-day urban-to-wildland gradient; and with my departmental colleague, Yurena Yanes, on Pleistocene and present-day land-snails in the Canary Islands.
