Bio
Arno Eichberger studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Technology Graz, where he graduated 1995. He received a doctor’s degree in technical sciences in 1998 with distinction. The doctoral thesis dealt with active head restraints for protection of the cervical spine in rear-end collisions. From 1998 to 2007 Arno Eichberger was em¬ployed at MAGNA STEYR Fahrzeugtechnik AG&Co, where he started as simulation and development engineer. He then moved to a position as a group leader for advanced development and later was assigned head of the innovation area Intelligent Safety, being responsible for advanced development in the area of active and passive vehicle safety. Since 2007, Arno Eichberger is key researcher at the Institute of Automotive Engineer¬ing (University of Technology Graz) dealing with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, vehicle dynamics and suspension systems. Additionally he was scientific director of the area mechanics of the COMET K2 competence center Virtual Vehicle Research and Test Center between 2008 and 2011. He received the venia docendi in Automotive Engineer¬ing in 2010. Between 2011 and 2013 he was assigned interim head of the Institute of the Automotive Engineering. Today, he is head of the department Driver Assistance, Vehicle Dynamics and Suspensions (DVS) at the same Institute, leading a group of ap¬proximately 10 researchers. His scientific contributions are published in several book contributions, journals, conference proceedings and patents. He is international reviewer of scientific contributions in his area.
