Bio
My research interest is in mathematical basis of computer vision and image analysis, often inspired by medical image problems. I am especially working with scale spaces, differential geometry, partial differential equations, and singularity (or: catastrophy) theory. The fields of applications have mainly been segmentation and the description of the hierarchical structure of Gaussian scale space images.
At ITU I've been looking into the possibilities of using the Symmetry Set as a tool for describing shapes. This set includes the well-known skeleton, or medial axis, and the shock graphs, but appears to be more powerful. Research inludes both mathematical and implementational topics.
