个人简介
Arianna B. Lovati works as preclinical researcher in the Cell and Tissue Engineering Lab, IRCCS Galeazzi Orthopaedic Institute (Milan - Italy) since 2009. She received her Veterinary degree from the University of Milan (Italy) in 2002, her thesis was entitled “Extracorporeal shock wave therapy for equine orthopaedic diseases”. She worked in mixed animals and equine private veterinary practices for five years after degree (2002-2007), in particular she worked as expert in extracorporeal shock wave - and Tecar therapies. She went on to complete an Internship of equine orthopaedic surgery at the Tierklinik (Telgte, Germany) where she worked as arthroscopic- and orthopaedic surgeon in 2006. In 2007 she went on to collaborate with the Fortier Laboratory at the Cornell University (Ithaca, USA) to perform studies on isolation and expansion of equine mesenchymal stem cells. From 2004 to 2007, she collaborated both with the Advanced Biotechnology Center, University of Genoa (Italy) and Biotechnology Research Center Piera Santambrogio (CRABCC) at the University of Milan (Italy), for research applied on animal models. From 2007 to 2010, she obtained her Ph.D degree in large animal Clinical Science at the University of Milan (Italy) working on adult stem cells from different equine tissues for orthopaedic treatments, her thesis was entitled “Comparison of equine bone marrow-, umbilical cord matrix-, amniotic fluid- and tendon-derived progenitor cells”. Dr. Lovati current research focus is on adult stem cells and tissue engineering-based therapies with cartilage, bone and tendon repair being the main area of investigation in her preclinical field. Studies on cells are pursued in parallel using animals as in vivo pre-clinical model of human orthopaedic diseases. Her research interests are regenerative medicine, improved animal welfare through regenerative medicine approaches and the role of animals as pre-clinical models of selected human diseases and disorders. She has authored peer reviewed journal articles; since 2008 she is scientific editor in equine medicine and diseases for a web journal in equine practice, medicine and sport activities (Dothorse) and she is the scientific tutor for Banca del Monte Foundation (Pavia, Italy).
