Bio
Apostolos Giannis is an Assistant Professor in the School of Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Crete (TUC) (Greece) since 2018. Before joining TUC, he was elaborated as Deputy Director and Senior Research Fellow at the Residues and Resource Reclamation Centre (R3C), Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. He has published more than 100 papers in scientific journals and international conferences. His scientific contribution is internationally-recognized at different environmental engineering disciplines. He is serving as a reviewer in more than 40 scientific journals, while he is an active member of International Waste Working Group (IWWG). He is specialized in solid waste management (waste to energy, waste to materials) and remediation of contaminated sites. Furthermore, his research on waste management is in-line with the keyword “waste is not a waste but a misplaced resource”. According to this, waste components are treated for energy recovery and useful material generation.
