Bio
My research career began when I graduated in Psychology in 2011. After getting my MSc in Research in Psychology at the UNED and obtaining the extraordinary prize, I began my doctoral thesis on perceptual grouping in touch and its electroencephalographic correlates (EEG) supported by a grant (FPU13 / 05914) from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports under the supervision of my Thesis advisors Soledad Ballesteros and Julia Mayas. During this time, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the research group led by Professor Soledad Ballesteros, in a series of research projects funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness and the European Union that focused on the effects of multidomain training on cognitive impairment. I also had the opportunity to collaborate in other research projects focused on the study of the perceptual grouping processes and perceptual illusions, headed by professors Pedro Montoro and Julia Mayas respectively. In 2016, I complete a research stay at the University of California Berkeley under the supervision of Professor Richard Ivry, during which I worked on the functioning of sensorimotor learning processes with a special emphasis on the role of controlled and automatic mechanisms involved in this kind of learning. Until now, I have published 15 articles in different scientific journals, 9 of which are in Q1-journals. I have also presented more than 30 contributions to different national and international scientific congresses and taught different courses in the areas of perception, attention and statistical analysis. After completing my doctoral thesis (Cum Laude) in 2018 (three articles belonging to this Thesis have already been published in different international scientific journals and a fourth is currently under the second round of revision in Neuropsychologia) I combine my research activity on the effects of perceptual grouping over the encoding and retrieval processes of the visuospatial working memory, with teaching activity as a professor at the Universidad Cardenal Cisneros and tutor at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia. In July 2019 I joined the European project sustAGE (part of the Horizon 2020 program) as a postdoctoral researcher. In September 2020, I left the sustAGE project to join the Universidad Internacional de la Rioja (UNIR) as an associate professor. Since July 2021 I am an assistant professor at Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED).
