个人简介
Antonio Ciarlo is a physicist skilled in optics, optical trapping, diffusion process analysis, motion manipulation of microparticles using light, simulations, and modelling. He studied Physics at the University of Naples Federico II, where he graduated summa cum laude, and obtained a PhD degree in Physics.
His research interests and expertise are about non-trivial diffusion processes, intracavity optical trapping, and trapping at high Reynolds numbers, both experimentally and by numerical simulations. In particular, he is currently studying non-trivial diffusion processes that arise in the presence of random optical fields, like speckles fields, that are characterised by diffusion properties of both Brownian diffusion and anomalous diffusion. Also, he is studying a new type of optical trapping system: the intracavity optical system, which allows trapping particles using an intrinsic feedback effect in addition to trapping force arising from matter-light interaction. Another topic of interest is the trapping at high Reynolds numbers where the inertial effects of the particle mass are not negligible and carrying on experiments about optical trapping in air and in vacuum with standard and intracavity optical tweezers.
