个人简介
Dr. Anthony Deese, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). His primary field of study is power and energy. He received his Bachelor of Science (BS) in computer engineering as well as Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in electrical engineering from Philadelphia's Drexel University in 2003 and 2008 respectively. Before joining TCNJ in Fall 2010, he spent two years as a postdoctoral research fellow and adjunct assistant professor at Drexel's Center for Electric Power Engineering (CEPE). He has significant experience teaching undergraduate as well as graduate courses on linear circuit analysis, electronic devices, power system analysis, power electronics, and economic operation of power systems. His research interests include artificial neural networks, analog computation with field-programmable analog arrays (FPAA), measurement-based component modeling, nonlinear system optimization, smart grid technologies, and state estimation for distribution networks. Focus is placed on problems relevant to power and energy. He has published more than 20 peer-reviewed research works and served as principal investigator (PI) for more than $150,000.00 in external funding. His recent work is featured in both the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems and IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid. He is a member of the IEEE Power and Energy Society, serving regularly as a reviewer for IEEE conferences and journals as well as NSF funding panels.
Anthony is also the founder and director of the Smart Electric Power System (SEPS) Laboratory at TCNJ. This fully-reconfigurable six-bus, three-phase power system lab is composed of various synchronous generators with associated prime movers, induction motors with associated dynamometers, transformers, transmission lines, contactors, constant-impedance loads, renewable generation-emulator modules, battery storage devices, and power electronic converters. It significantly expands the ability of faculty and students at TCNJ to study advanced energy problems, providing a good foundation for the institution’s growing power engineering program. The SEPS Laboratory was developed with external funding from the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) Program.
