个人简介
Since October 2011 Anneke Sools holds a fulltime permanent position as Assistant Professor at the department of Psychology, Health and Technology (University of Twente, The Netherlands). She is also Program Director of the Storylab, a research group at the University of Twente conducting multidisciplinary research at the crossroads between interpretive and computational approaches to storytelling. Sools is the recipient of the 2018 Early Career Award from AERA (American Educational Research Association) Narrative SIG (Special Interest Group). She was nominated for the 2019 KNAW (Royal Dutch Academy of Science) Ammodo Science Award. Her MSc thesis was awarded the Professor Halkes Thesis Award in 2001.
From 2006-2011 Sools was lecturer and later assistant professor at the University for Humanistic Studies. At this university she obtained her PhD degree based on a dissertation about the development of narrative research methodology in the context of health promotion. She received a MSc Degree in Psychology of Culture and Religion from the University of Nijmegen.
For some years she has been a member of the advisory board of the Centre for Narrative Research (University of East London), a member of the science committee of the international conference Narrative Matters and a member of the organizing committee of Narrative Matters 2018. In 2010 she co-founded the Network for Narrative Research Netherlands which now has nearly 700 members.
Sools' experience in leading interdisciplinary projects includes research on Digital patient stories (75k with the Rathenau Institute), Machine-based Mapping of Innovation Journeys (75k), What Works When for Whom (500k funded by NWO-eScience). She acts as advisor on the Finnish research project Stories of Bodily Difference (600k) lead by Vilma Hanninen.
Sools co-supervised the PhD-projects of Annemarie Lohuis (completed 2016), Sheila Adjiembaks (completed 2017). Currently, she supervises PhD-student Wouter Smink and external doctoral candidate Jacky van de Goor (both with expected completion dates in 2020).
For her current research on how people construct future possible selves in situations where possibilities are under pressure (e.g. chronic illness, precarious employment, and early closure of developmental potential among prevocational youth) she collaborates with researchers, professionals and artists in the Netherlands, Greece, the UK, Finland and Israel.
