Bio
Anna is from Tasmania, where she did her undergraduate studies, majoring in Applied Mathematics and Zoology. Anna’s Honours research classified distinct rocky and coral reef habitats around the coast of Australia using data collected by Reef Life Survey. Anna then moved to Western Australia to do her PhD studying Ningaloo Reef. Anna’s PhD explored coral reef resilience, both theoretically, and quantitatively using a combination of field observations, data syntheses, statistical analyses, and modelling. Anna has developed coral population and community models across multiple spatial scales from very fine scale (<10m) to whole reef and between reef scales (10s of km). Anna has experience collecting many types of coral reef field data and now works to value-add to empirical data by synthesising information across disciplines into model frameworks. Anna is currently using a meta-population model to inform restoration approaches on the Great Barrier Reef.
