Bio
Andrii Kostyniuk obtained his Ph.D. from the Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology (Dnipro, Ukraine) in 2012. From September 2012 to January 2015, he was a Research Fellow at the Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology, Department of General Chemical Technology. During his Ph.D., he has been a visiting researcher at the University of Liverpool (Department of Chemistry) and the University of Le Mans (Department of Chemistry). From January 2015 to September 2016, Andrii was a Postdoctoral Researcher Fellow and project leader in the field of heterogeneous catalysis at the PetroSA Synthetic Fuels Innovation Centre, South African Institute for Advanced Materials Chemistry, University of the Western Cape (Cape Town, South Africa). From November 2016 until November 2017, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher Fellow at Tsinghua University (Department of Chemistry, Beijing, China). From February 2018 to January 2020, Andrii was a Postdoctoral Researcher Fellow at the Department of Catalysis and Chemical Reaction Engineering, National Institute of Chemistry (Ljubljana, Slovenia). Since February 2020 he has been employed as Research Assistant Professor at the same institute and department. Andrii was involved (until now) and responsible for some EU Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe research projects such as Adaptable Reactors for Resource- and Energy-Efficient Methane Valorisation (ADREM), CarbON Valorisation in Energy-efficient Green fuels (CONVERGE), Biorefining of Sugars via Process Intensification (BioSPRINT), Carbon Negative Biofuels from Organic Waste (CARBIOW), Exploring wooden materials in hybrid printed electronics: a holistic approach towards functional electronics with net zero carbon emissions (HyPELignum), BIOmass Valorisation via Superheated Steam Torrefaction, Pyrolisis, Gasification Amplified by Multidisciplinary Researchers TRAINining for Multiple Energy and Products’ Added VALUEs (BioTrainValue) and grand fundamental ARRS project - Designing Selective Catalytic Processes for the Conversion of CO2 to Ethanol (UliSess). His research is focused on the development and application of heterogeneous catalysts important in the sustainable production of fuels, chemicals, and materials. Andrii is working on fundamental and applied aspects of acid-base and redox catalysis with the aim of understanding the nature of the active sites and reaction mechanisms.
