My main research interests are in monitoring and understanding cold region processes, such as glaciers, permafrost, and river flow, and the climate change impacts and natural hazards related to them. I apply Earth observation methods across scales – ranging from mm-detail close-range measurements to global satellite coverage. Highlights of my scientific career include an ERC Advanced Grant, my service as Lead Author for the IPCC Special Report on Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate (SROCC), and my 2019 European Geosciences Union Medal.
