Bio
André J. W. van der Kouwe (M'90) received the B. Eng. and M. Eng. degrees in electrical and electronic engineering from The University of Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa, in 1992 and 1995, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering from The Ohio State University, Columbus, in 1999. He undertook his doctoral research in intensive care monitoring in the Department of Neurology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
He is currently Instructor at the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Charlestown, MA. He completed his postdoctoral training at the same institution in 1992. His research interests include MRI pulse sequence development, and the applications of signal and image processing in imaging and electrophysiological monitoring of the human brain.
