Bio
András Lovas was born in 1981, married, father of two children. He finished his high school studies at Varga Katalin High School of Szolnok, Hungary in 1999. He graduated as a medical doctor in 2005 at University of Szeged, Hungary. During his postgraduate training he spent one year at the East Lancashire Health Care Trust in the United Kingdom. He specialized in anaesthesiology and intensive therapy in 2011. Later he graduated with the European Diploma in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care (EDAIC by ESA) in 2012 and a year later the Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine (EDIC by ESICM). In 2014 he worked a year for Akureyri Hospital as a consultant in Akureyri, Iceland. His PhD thesis was presented in 2016 about "Improving oxygenation in spontaneously breathing patients with atelectatic lung". Recently he worked for the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy of University of Szeged, Hungary where he spent two years as deputy head of department. Here he was involved in the gradual training of medical students in Hungarian and English languages. Since 1st October 2020 he has been the head of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy of Semmelweis Hospital of Kiskunhalas, Hungary. He's got a special interest in mechanical ventilation with special emphasis on lung pathophysiology of atelectasis and recruitment manoeuvres. His current research projects are focusing mainly on imaging techniques like computer tomography and electric impedance tomography.
